If you decided to take KOI you would necessarily have a need in a good guidance in order to know more about KOI classification and their keeping. KOI are classified as metallic and nonmetallic, and differ on the appearanceof scales and colour pattens.

Majority KOI are nonmetallic but such type as ogon has a metallic lustre which is gold or silver.

Gin Rin are KOI of diferent colours with silver sparcling scales.

Doitsu are blue-grey with dark blue scales along the dorsal and leteral lines and red on the sides and fins.


Siro-mudzi -white.
Tante-Kohaku-white with red markings on the head.
Kohaku-white with red markings.
Siro-bekko-white with black markings on the back.
Ki-utsuri-black with yellow, red, or white markings.
Hariwake-silver with golden markings.
Sanke-white with black and red markings.
Showa-black with white and red markings.
Hadsiro-black.
Ogon-golden.
Asagi-blue scale back with red along the sides.
Susuj-blue back with red along the sides.
